About Gumbies
The Gumbies brand was founded by Michel Maurer in 1990 when he was travelling around Manly, New South Wales, Australia. The reason for setting up his company was because he felt the UK and European market needed a new form of quality footwear to match that of Australia.
The Gumbies Islander collection of flip flops was the starting point. The aim was to make a quality pair of flip flops in many colour and pattern choices and they achieved this with full praise from customers. Along with all this, the aim was to create them using recycled products to have the least amount of impact on the planet.
In fact, the Islanders are still available today and are one of best selling styles from Gumbies.
